Funniest Guy I Know

In an era where comedy is literally at our fingertips, are we saving the last laugh for our spouse? Over the years I've come to realize that my husband is the funniest man I know. Only he can make me giggle even at my lowest times and I adore him for that. But do I really find him that funny? Am I saving him the last laugh? In a society where LAUGH is plastered on our walls in LIVE LAUGH LOVE posters and signs all over our homes, are we overworking our sensory factors when it comes to laughing at our spouses' jokes?

They can't be that funny, right?

Turns out they are. We are more attracted to our spouses' laugh, their smile, deamenor; we share inside jokes with them. The way they talk or that specific inflection on a syllable triggers cortisone and dopamine in our brains giving us that warm and fuzzy feeling that makes us feel safe. In some, it is the security of the relationship that influences laughter.

Couples have come to realize that the longer they are together they must "undergo challenging domestication process" [and] "relational boredom" according to an article in psyche "Why it takes humor to sustain a long-term relationship". Gnaulati continues stating that he believes that "humor, irony, and and appreciation for the absurd [are] often overlooked by marriage scholars as mindsets conductive to success at love"; are key to keeping a long-term relationship.

So laugh when they make a joke or make one yourself, because laughter brings us together and who wouldn't want to be closer to their spouse? Always save the last laugh for them, they've earned it.
